Flex-Able was originally established in 1994 as a small media business, specialising in providing professional services to the hotel and catering industry. By 1997 it had developed into a business travel agency.
The business was growing steadily when, just two years later, Group Managing Director Richard Vanbergen identified a gap in the market for reliable transport in the area. Just days later he sought funding for the company’s first corporate private hire vehicle and within a very short time one car had grown into a fleet of 18. Today the group operates 22 vehicles, including 18 A6s and four people carriers that regularly take groups of business travellers to and from airports across the UK. All with the same ethos; on time, every time.
It is that ethos which Richard says underpins the approach not just of the chauffeur drive business but across the group as it looks today.
Over the next ten years the Flex-Able Travel business grew to incorporate a corporate courier service, hazardous goods transportation, the removal and recycling of electrical waste and an expanding office cleaning business.
Growth was facilitated by a move to larger premises in 2009, when offices and garages in Alconbury and a warehouse in Duxford were all closed to combine operations and storage facilities at Edison Road in St Ives. By 2011 the company was ready to expand once again, with an additional base in St Neots now accommodating the growing FlexEwaste business, which now removes and recycles tonnes of computers, servers, printers and batteries from businesses each year.
