Here we go again, more disruption. 10am Tuesday 24th May 2011

Ash Cloud Part 2 : Here we go again.

From Sky News Volcanic ash from an Icelandic eruption is expected to reach London's Heathrow airport -- the world's busiest international air travel hub -- around lunchtime on Tuesday, Europe's air traffic control organization said. Concentration of ash is expected to be low and it's not yet clear if flights will be canceled. The ash cloud is already affecting Scottish airspace. Scotland's Loganair announced that all flights will be canceled Tuesday due to forecasts that indicate "a high density of ash will be present in large parts of Scottish airspace." British Airways and Dutch airline KLM also canceled dozens of scheduled Tuesday flights to and from locations in Scotland. Instant updates can be found on our twitter account: @flexablecars As ever I will be on duty throughout the crisis and call me for updates or advice on travel. Briefly as of 6am this morning Easyjet have cancelled all flights to Scotland, the same for KLM and they also included the north of England, specifically Durham Tees and Newcastle. Flybe have cancelled flights to Aberdeen & Edinburgh. All flights in and out of western islands have been also affected. Ryanair have asked the Irish Aviation Authority for further clarification. AND Glasgow airport is still open. At this time CAA and NATS state that the ash cloud is sort of localised to the Arctic and Greenland. Northern Scotland is more of a precautionary measure. A full update will be announced at 2pm. To Scotland : Train services were not effected and from Peterborough and there is a very regular service. If you can plan ahead 1st class travel is very cheap booking through the trainline.com. Services to Edinburgh and Glasgow direct. For Aberdeen change at Edinburgh. Ireland : Travel to Liverpool for Belfast and Dublin or Holyhead. Confirm tickets before hand. Last year passengers were turning up expecting to board immediately and were denied travel. Western Europe: Eurostar and Eurotunnel excelled themselves and I’ve checked that there is no strike action in France, yet!!! Eurostar passengers can board at Ebbsfleet, just south of Dartford. It’s quick and easy, again make sure you have tickets. The ferry between Dover and Calais will get busy if there is a shutdown. Good train service to Paris and Brussels (Change at Lille). Last year we took/collected passengers from Brussels, Paris, Frankfurt, Berlin, Dresden, Milan and Zurich. America/Canada: Airlines are saying there are minor delays into London, Birmingham and Manchester. Far East/Asia: No delays as yet reported
